Are you interested to see our LOGO?

During the second week of our living and volunteering here, as an Inspiring Ambassadors of Cultures, we decided to create our logo.  The logo included national symbols of each country, Portugal, Macedonia and Belarus.

1.       As you can guess, the branch of olive represents Portugal, country located in the Western part of Europe.

The history of the olive tree is as old as the existence of the people of the Mediterranean. Immortal tree of enormous wealth. The most important symbols attributed to the olive are: victory, peace, progress, abundance, wisdom, justice, fertility, purification, divinity, strength, reward, among others.  The ancients whenever they wanted to search for water and make a hole to use it. This ancestral technique is only possible because of magnetism and movement.
Olive tree represents hope for a better and peaceful future.

2.       The Sun, represents Republic of Macedonia, a small country located on Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. Speaking about Macedonia, there are a lot of things that are maybe more common, like traditional food ajvar and tavce-gravce, or the Ohrid pearl, but we chose the sun.

Why?

If you listen to Macedonian anthem, it starts with the words: Today on Macedonia, is born the new sun of liberty“. The national flag of the country depicts a stylized yellow sun on a red field, with eight broadening rays extending from the center to the edge of the field.  On the top of the coat of the arms, there is also a sun.
It symbolizes freedom and fight for the own rights.

            3. Last, but not less important is the White Stork that is considered to be a symbol of Belarus, country     located in Easter Europe.

The white stork is very fond of Belarusian people. Many folk songs are written associated with these birds. The white stork is the holy bird to the Belarusian people. They believe that the storks settle only for good people. The Belarusian government declared the white stork as the national animal of Belarus.

At the end, the point of our volunteering here is to have a chance to speak with you about problems, different cultures, what can we change, what can we accept of each other. That is why we chose official and unofficial symbols of our countries to represent the hope for better future, freedom and being good people, all of us.
